Explore the driver's installation files. There's probably a Setup. Try installing the driver in virtual XP mode. Then run the scanner while in virtual XP mode. Many older scanners are not supported by win 7 unless in xp compatibility mode. I have an older canon scanner that is in this situation. You'll have to use compatibility mode with Win 7 professional. Oct 25, ron baer. I've used them both to do scans and photo prints like the old days with Windows XP In my testing, after I installed them both, I was able to use them plugged directly into the computer USB ports, but choose to leave them plugged into the ethernet router USB plugs because I don't have any other use for those router USB ports now with 10 USB ports on the motherboard as I built it.
Yes, it was an easy workaround. When I upgraded my computers to Your scanmaker buttons work, you can scan into Photoshop again, the works. Good luck. You might have to unplug the router, unplug the scanner, then plug the router back in and let it "warm up", then plug the scanner in again and power it up so that it sends a signal to the router via USB that "I'm here" Everything else failed: There are no drivers from Mikrotek.
Drivers from other companies did not work. The compatibility mode did not work either with the driver. At the end I was able to see XP in an window of its own. In this window I could install the driver of the Mikrotek Scanmaker After activating the scanner for the virtual machine I could use the scanner as before. Now I just had to find a way to transfer the scanned images from the virtual environment to the one I usually work in.
Since I was not able to activate the Clipboard is this function not available in Win 7 home? I used Dropbox and eMail. Its a bit circumstancial but it worked. Hope it helps - and please post here if it does as I am currently awaiting delivery of a new Windows 7 PC and I intend to use my on it! I insalled the driver listed under "All others" and now am able to use my Microtek scanner on my new Windows 7 PC.
I installed the "All others" driver to no avail. That got me a "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. The system cannot find the file specified" error, however.
A bit of Google'ing uncovered this post which had some very helpful info. My best guess is that Windows XP includes these files by default. Specifications Item.
